DANCE FOR ME !

Toure celebrating

Dance for me, Dance for me oh ,oh ,oh , oh Adelaide United I’ve never seen you play this football before. Of course the Tones and I Dance Monkey song has slightly different lyrics but RED fans over the last 5 games have certainly been singing and humming a very similar tune and why not ! Adelaide have won their last 5 outings with 4 straight wins in the league and a FFA cup final victory thrown in for good measure. The REDs are in scintillating form and playing very sexy football making them one of the most exciting sides this season to watch. A brand of football from Verbeek’s men that is very easy on the eye.

So why are Adelaide in such great form and putting sides away with relative ease, none more so evident last week when the REDS hammered arch rivals Melbourne Victory . Obviously their are multiple factors to the sides success in recent times but for me the stand out is their offensive set up and mindset to go forward at every opportunity. The centre triangle of Troisi, McGree and D’Arrigo have been massive, controlling the game and starting every attack for the REDS, also McGree’s goals this season have been first class. The weapons and blistering pace out wide from Halloran, Mileusnic and Maria have caused opposition teams no end of trouble and to be fair no defence so far can stop them. Up top the REDS have young gun Toure who adds even for pace and skill with Opseth also another great option if the REDS need even more goals. A side with attacking armory all over the park not just centrally but on the wings too. Making Adelaide United on their day almost unstoppable.

At the back United have been strong too, with Marone stepping up nicely as a central defender along side Jakobsen and positive signs too with Elsey still to come back giving Adelaide even more options for the back four. Strain at fullback ever reliable and Maria who makes the fullback position an attacking winger role when required gives the REDs plenty of punch moving forward.

So REDS fans I can see why we are all happy again and dancing in the stands. Adelaide United have got their groove back making them easily the most attractive side in the competition and most dangerous going forward so far after 7 rounds. A team that is playing the type of Football that wins championships and fills the stands. Adelaide its time to dance like never before and keep playing that football we all adore.

On a personal note I would like to dedicate this article to my Babcia who sadly passed away last week aged 94. RIP  BABCIA 5/5/1925 – 25/11/19 you will be sadly missed.
